Statement of the Cairo University Council of Deans
At its meeting Sunday, 8th November 2015, the Cairo University Council of Deans, Chaired by Professor Gaber Gad Nassar, discussed the developments related to the distressing incident of the crash of the Russian plane in Sinai. Events have developed in non-professional or scientific interventions that lack objectivity and good will. These interventions are not after finding the truth, but are penalizing a people by putting a nation under an economic blockade without any justification and hitting tourism, one of its main resources.
Airline accidents, worldwide require time and extensive investigations by experts to determine the causes of the accident and those responsible. The investigation airline accidents that occurred many years ago have not, until now, yielded any results.
Early predictions of the results of the investigations and the desire to impose personal perspectives concerning the accident of the Russian plane on world opinion depict a deliberate attempt to impose there perspectives on the investigators, which is in no way acceptable.
The Cairo University Council of Deans emphasizes the solidarity of the Egyptian people in the face of these unprecedented biased policies and interventions in technical investigations. The Council calls on the people to unite for the cause of national interest. The present matter is not one of the concerns of the government and the opposition, and it is not a political dispute among dissenting parties. It is a matter that concerns the future the Egyptians and their lives.
It is known that what the Egyptian government and people have realized in their war against terror is a blow to the strategies that have been calling for the division of the Arab Word and its consequent disintegration.
The Cairo University Council of Deans, therefore, calls on all Egyptians to unite and work until Egypt overcomes the present situation.
The Council hopes that all Egyptian individuals and institutions will organize trips to tourist destinations in Sharm El-Sheikh and elsewhere, and that all Egyptians living abroad will spend their holidays in Egypt. This is a responsibility that every Egyptian who loves Egypt will regard as an act of patriotism. We will, thus, collaborate in repairing the damage that is negatively affecting the national economy through the tourist industry.
Egypt shall remain free and Egyptians will always unite to build a promising future for the coming generations.
God bless Egypt and the Egyptians.
